The brief: get sales staff to recommend Symbian phones despite the launch of Nokia's Windows Mobile.
I set up ‘The Source,’ a program to inform and incentivise mobile phone sales staff. The Source was styled as an international news agency. Sales staff were invited to apply to become Source reporters. Staff were quick to send in their application videos. Response was over 30%...
To the keenest and most creative applicants, I sent a journalistic Low Pro back pack filled with goodies and gear, including a Source press pass and a brand new Nokia E7, with all calls paid for. The E7 was preloaded with an app that linked them directly to my THE SOURCE mobile site.
The phone and site were their point of contact for the campaign: I used it to feed them tasks, info, updates and free Nokia tech to try out. All they needed to do was share everything on Facebook, Twitter and by word of mouth. The more they shared, the more points they earned. There were big prizes every month and an all in trip to Vegas to the winning staff members, which I styled as a journo's conference.
